Hands on DC Word Day Recap – Mural Madness

Hands on DC Word Day Recap – Mural Madness

Thanks to all of the parents and teachers that cheered us on and picked up a paint brush to create some dazzling murals on Saturday morning! We had about 25-30 volunteers (almost half of which were CHM@L parents!). More fruit and vegetables were painted in the Cafeteria, a French landscape and French flag were painted across the entire rear wall of the French Room, two Maria Montessori quotes were painted in script on the front of the stage, and three items painted on the playground – a map of the US, a map of DC, and a compass with a north arrow.

And thanks again to Hands on DC for organizing the event and providing all of the supplies and most of the volunteers. And thanks to Sameena Kluck for the delicious donuts!

Hands on DC will return again to our school on Saturday, May 19 since they selected our school for the annual Work-a-Thon! More details to come about what projects they’ll help us tackle. Let Mr. Taylor, myself, or Mr. Eatman know if you have any ideas.
