Enrollment Requirements for Families – Please Read

Congratulations to all of the families whose students who have been accepted to CHM@L for the 2013-2014 school year. We have a waitlist of 812 students! For both the new families and families of siblings that were accepted, you still have additional requirements before your child is officially enrolled.

April 1: Lottery results will be mailed to the parent/guardian address listed on the application. Applicants who received a seat through the lottery will receive the enrollment packet along with their results letter.

May 1: Deadline for applicants who received a seat to submit completed enrollment forms to the school where they received the seat.

Mandatory Observation for parents of New Students: Mandatory Observation (Tues and Thurs in March and April) The Primary Team will be contacting each family to schedule an observation.

Guidelines for the Observation:

*All prospective parents are expected to arrive by 9am

*Parents will view an 11-13 minute video before observation

*Classroom observations will be 30 minutes.

Mandatory Silent Journey and Discovery of Materials: May 15th-16th 6pm – 7:30; both nights.  (Childcare will be provided).  Both parents are encouraged to attend, but the same parent must attend both the first and second evening.

Mandatory New Parent Orientation:  June 6th 6pm-7:30pm (Childcare will be provided)

Parents of newly accepted students who fail to meet these deadlines and attend the mandatory sessions will forfeit their acceptance to Capitol Hill Montessori @ Logan.

To enroll in Capitol Hill Montessori School @ Logan for school year 2013/2014, please apply via the DC Public School’s preschool and pre-K online lottery between January 28, 2013 and February 25, 2013. For more details about the DCPS lottery, visit the DCPS website here.

To learn more about Capitol Hill Montessori School @ Logan, you are invited to attend one of our upcoming open houses at 215 G Street, NE:

  • December 3, 9:30-10:30am
  • January 16, 6:30-7:30pm
  • February 22, 9:30-10:30am

The Montessori school is a city-wide program and 100% out of boundary.

 

Next Steps for Newly Admitted Families

Correction:  Due to scheduling difficulties the observation visit does not need to be completed by April 1st.  Teachers will be contacting families in the near future to arrange observation visits which will continue through April. Congratulations to the families admitted to the Montessori Program for the 2011/2012 School Year!  Please remember to complete the Pre-School/Pre-K Letter of Intent to Enroll (http://dcps.dc.gov/DCPS/Files/downloads/Learn-About-Schools/DCPS-2011-2012-Letter-of-Intent-Form.pdf) as soon as possible and mail it to:  Watkins Elementary, Attn:  Montessori Program, 420 12th Street SE, Washington, DC 20003.  The Montessori Program must receive the completed Letter of Intent no later than April 1, 2011. Additionally, you will need to complete an observation visit of the Montessori Program by April 1, 2011. During the week of March 14th, the Montessori teachers will contact families to schedule an observation visit.  If you do not receive a phone call from the Montessori Program by the end of next week (March 18th), please call the Watkins Elementary office at 202-698-3355 and leave a message for Ms. Henderson.  In order to retain your child’s seat with the Montessori Program for 2011/2012, you need to submit a Letter of Intent and complete an observation visit by April 1, 2011.
