School is in full-gear now and students are busy discovering and creating. There are a lot of exciting events coming up that you should make sure to be aware of and hopefully join in! You can also subscribe to our calendar to stay current and get reminders of important events.

Monday & Tuesday, October 1 & 2 are Picture Day for students and school staff. We’ll be sending home information home soon with your kids so you know the options for getting timeless photos of your great students.

Wednesday, October 3 is a Community PTSO Meeting to review the PARCC testing scores for CHML and the District. There will be discussion on how to understand the results and opportunities for the community to work together to improve the preparedness and confidence of students to express their knowledge during this years upcoming tests.

Wednesday, October 10 is Walk & Bike to School Day. Families gather in Lincoln Park for a morning of activities celebrating the great walking & biking around DC, then all travel together to school. We would love some families to help out along the route to ensure all students and riders are safe and get to school on time.

Saturday, October 13 is Movie Night. Families gather outside CHML for an evening of glitter, arts & crafts, delicious snacks and watching “How to Train Your Dragon”. This year we are also hosting the infamous Chili Cookoff where aspiring family chefs compete to win the title of best CHML chili! We would also love if you could Volunteer to help Movie Night.

Saturday, November 3 is the renowned Haunted Harvest. CHML transforms into a house of (funny) horrors, halloween crafts, sticky treats, and lots of friends in great costumes. Making the Haunted Harvest a regular success could use your help, so please Volunteer to help Haunted Harvest.

Lastly, CHML is closed for holidays and work days on Columbus Day October 8, as well as October 25 & 26.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at all of our fun community events!
