Celebrate spring with lunch and local strawberries and greens Wednesday 5/23. Join us! Primary lunch is 11:45am and elementary launch is 12: 15pm. RSVP for lunch hillfoodie at yahoo dot com or tell your teacher. It’s a good deal at $4 for parents!

To celebrate spring, gardens, and fresh food CHML is participating in Strawberries and Salad Greens Day on Wednesday, May 23rd.  School lunch will feature local strawberries salad greens grown on farms near Washington, DC. Please join us for the celebration!

We will have a “Where Food Comes From” table in the lobby, displaying plants, seeds, maps, pictures, stickers, and more to get students excited about eating healthy.  It will be a chance for students and parents to taste and appreciate the unmatched flavors of fresh foods, and to learn about the farm-to-table process. Contact Emerson’s mom/Becky Levin at hillfoodie@yahoo.com for details.

Extreme Garden Makeover – March 31, 9AM-12:30PM

We need all hands on deck to launch the garden and we need your help. We the Garden Committee would like to have a stellar turnout and are aiming for at least 30 sets for hands ready to work. Please come if only for an hour.

When: Saturday, March 31, 2012, 9AM – 12:30 PM

Where: Front yard of CHM@L

Garden Day Duties –

  • Grass seed planting
  • Soil spreading and tilling
  • Replanting all bulbs
  • De-weeding beds
  • Rake mulch around current beds
  • Set up of watering system
  • Power wash steps

We also need:

  • Volunteers to baby sit and occupy the smaller children so parents can work.
  • Donations of juice boxes and small snacks.
