Your support of the CHML PTSO is critical. You may not be aware that PTSO covers expenses for many popular school events and items.

For example, PTSO covers expenses for:

  • Teacher support – Classroom supplies: historically, the PTSO have been able to provide each teacher with $1,000-1,500 per school year to purchase supplies and materials for their classrooms. For new teachers, we were able to increase this support so they could set up their classrooms. In 2023, we are only able to afford $250 for each teacher, regardless of tenure.

  • Family Assistance – Again, historically, we’ve been able to set aside an average of $8,000 a school year to help families in need of assistance. In 2023, we were unable to provide any monetary support for families in our community who could use a little help. This is one of the saddest realities of our budget.

  • School Events: PTSO generously covers the cost of hosting many, if not all, of our community events during the school year from the Back to School Picnic, to Fall Harvest Festival, to Teacher Appreciation Week, to Field Trips, to Field Day and Graduation. Not only are there expenses related to renting bounce houses and providing other activities and decorations, we also pay overtime costs for security and janitorial staff (which mount quickly when we do weekend events). Right now, we do not have the budget to host many of these events and must either significantly pare them down to cut costs or cancel them entirely.

  • Professional Development: our teachers deserve every opportunity to practice and better their skills and PD is an important part of teacher retention and recruitment. PTSO has always had a line item for funding professional development opportunities for our staff, including hosting an AMI Certification Course. Right now, we have no money to offer our incredible staff for professional development.

Make a Donation

To give at any time, click on the PayPal link below. We are a 501c(3) organization (Federal Tax ID: 45-2572298), and so your gift is deductible to the extent allowable by law.

Our annual giving campaign, Loot for Logan, will take place in September & October 2022,. Those times of year are dedicated to building enthusiasm for our community members to give directly. Teachers and staff members help to incentivize such generous giving by offering special “experiences” like Rock Creek Park hikes, cooking classes, and dance parties. But there’s no need to wait until March to give! You can always make a one-time gift to the PTSO or you can set up a recurring donation. Also check if your employer provides matching donations.
