On Saturday, August 24, about 20 families joined together to start our new gardens at Meyer school. Throughout the morning kids and parents sawed 760 feet of wood lumber and drilled over 550 screws to assemble 18 new garden beds for students to start planting next month. Funding for the materials paid by the PTSO that was raised through donations last year.

We also had a chance to explore the new building and all the large spaces, new cafeteria, art rooms, library, and the super-sized fields! It’s going to be an exciting year for everyone.

There are more opportunities to help out with the school garden – join us on September 7or subscribe to the School Activity Calendar to get notified of new garden days as they’re scheduled. You can also reach out to Tim Abdella directly if you have any suggestions or offers of support.

Thank you to all the volunteers, younger and older, as well as staff and the community for supporting such a great inaugural gardening at Meyer.
